This is shocking but not surprising. We've been importing doctors, nurses and other folks trained abroad for years........its a cost saving device as it avoids the expense of having to train/educate our own Canadian young people............it's a form of neoliberal globalization that has stolen from poor countries for decades.
That it is now being used to bring in military personnel, from places that may well have committed the war crimes we've been ignoring for decades......is an ominous sign.
Looks to me like this central banker we've chosen to save ourselves from a right wing Canadian politician might be more amorally right wing than we suspect. As usual, our belief in the 'Liberal alternative' may be dragging us into another debacle like the one that brought so many Ukrainian Nazi Collaborators to our shores, in the years following the end of WWII.
While the Jewish victims were refused, the guys that may well have participated in the horror of Babi Yar were allowed to 'goose step right up' and become good Canadians.
This kind of exception to our immigration laws is traditional with us........or so it seems to me after reading this column.
$500 Billion would build and harden a lot of electrical transmission lines, roads and infrastructure repair and upgrade, hospitals etc not to mention forgive student debt.
The failure of parliament to pass MP Nancy Kwan's NO LOOPHOLES BILL C233 last week means that General Dynamics Canada of Valleyfield Quebec, Dow Chemical of Canada, Colt Canada and Roshen Industries can ship their diabolical explosives, tank ammunition, bullets, vehicles and other death dealing war materiel to the US and Israel to bomb people living in tents, bomb oil and gas facilities without any oversight from Canada.
Canada and canadians are smug cheerleaders and beneficiaries of these totally illegal wars.....
And now Mercenary Soldiers!
I predict these actions will produce one helluva future BLOWBACK!!
Let's hope, but not hold our breaths for any real blowback. Unless of course, Iran looks like its winning that war in the Middle East.........then watch the calls for Canadian action to increase!!!
Let's hope..........and prepare ourselves to endure all those stink eyes from the folks who didn't buy an EV when they had the chance.. Today on the CBC they were talking about how this newest war is likely to speed up the move to renewables in some quarters.
