Thanks for this thorough analysis and history Jeremy. I sadly cancelled my Edmonton Journal subscription when the sale to Post Media was announced. They let go of the people whose work I followed. I still miss that morning tradition of reading the paper. However, your article says it was much worse than I guessed. It is just one more way were are hyper integrated into the US, a country I left nearly half a century ago and to which I have no desire to return. I am a Canadian, legally and through not so distant ancestors. We are not perfect up here and cracks are showing but I prefer and choose to stay but it is not an easy choice these days.
Whoah, this is a great very thorough article Jeremy. So disturbingly true. Sensationalized headline bytes opinions are published and disguised as News on National Post. I ignore reading the content as I have learned to distrust these sources. It’s a shame that we have to work so hard to get independent primary source news in Canada. I really value our local newspaper on the Sunshine Coast, BC, The Coast Reporter. Although some non local Opinion columns do creep in there too.
