I’m headed to Banff today to check out its designated protest zone for the G7 in Kananaskis. I’ll hopefully have a story for you tomorrow about the anti-G7 protests in Calgary and Banff.
Elsewhere
I went down to Fort Macleod to cover the UCP’s town hall on the future of coal mining in the province for Canada’s National Observer, which proved to be a raucous affair.
At Alberta Native News, I wrote about the four northern Alberta First Nations that were forced to evacuate two weeks ago due to wildfires. There’s no timeline yet for their return.
I also wrote about First Nations’ response to King Charles III’s Speech from the Throne, which spoke about reconciliation and Indigenous rights, but not Treaties.
On the Progress Report podcast, Jim Storrie and I spoke to Edmonton Palestine solidarity activists Joshua Goldberg and Carly Hughes, who are fasting to raise funds for mutual aid in Gaza.
