Members of my family were involved in the struggle against the Nazis in WII. An aunt was in the first group of doctors to enter Belsen after liberation. I have visited Dachau.... I am absolutely appalled that Anthony Rota can be either so corrupt, or so pig-ignorant, as to actually introduce Hunka as a 'Canadian hero'. Does he never use his minions to check facts before he opens his mouth? He (Rota) should not simply apologize, he should resign his speakership immediately.
Wanna bet it was Freeland’s office who was behind all this? So true most of us are illiterate when it comes to WW2 history and most of it comes from seeing Saving Private Ryan about 15 times. It’s only the tip of the iceberg. A lot of these Ukrainian nationalists were involved in the ethic cleansing of maybe a million Ukrainian Jews beginning in 1941 before being formerly incorporated into the 14th SS in 1943. I’d like to see a part two in this public outrage. When the Canadian public learns their military has been heavily involved in the the training of the Azov Battalion who proudly see themselves as the direct heirs of the 14th Galician.
On a personal note I first became aware of the Ukranian “Holocaust by bullets” about 15 years ago when the CBC did a feature on a French RC priest Fr. Patrick Debois who made it his life’s work uncovering and documenting execution sites by diligently going Soviet and German archives and eyewitness testimony. So far they have documented over 2000 execution sites. Their website is below.
